Love a Stray is doing adoptions by appointment only. Masks must be worn and a limit of 2 individuals are permitted at appointments. If you are interested in adopting a cat, please complete a pre-adoption application: https://www.loveastraycat.com/pre-adoption-application.html

We are going to begin (slowly) doing adoptions by APPOINTMENT. Due to COVID 19 we are not at PetSmart Great Northern for adoptions as we have been for a great many years. Pre Adoption applications will be screened and appointments are scheduled at our shelter. Masks must be worn to all appointments and a limit of 2 individuals are permitted at appointments. We are doing the best we can to adopt, yet remain safe. We are as well, extremely short staffed and lead times are difficult for us. But we are trying to do our best. Please bear with us as we navigate this new chapter for Love A Stray. The Pre-Adoption application can be found on our website

Under the current environment of "essential services" we wanted to make public aware that this extends to many of our needed vet services. While we are able to treat our "residents" for illness or injury, we will not be able to get needed services for Spays, Neuters,Rabies Vaccinations and FIV / FELV Combo tests for the cats and kittens that have not yet received these necessary services. This severely limits our ability to help our local communities with new intakes especially with kitten season upon us. COVID-19 impacts the animals and the Rescue Community as well as many people.

As we continue to monitor circumstances surrounding the coronavirus, we have made the difficult, but necessary decision to temporarily suspend adoptions of cats and kittens at least until the May timeframe. We will then reevaluate our ability to provide adoptions with safety of our valued volunteers and public. Most of our adoptions are done at PetSmart Great Northern as part of our great partnership with PetSmart Charities. They allow us the use of its cage space and set up on the weekends for adoptions. PetSmart has notified us that the temporary suspension will remain in place until the June timeframe.
In addition to our adoption events of being canceled, our fundraising events were canceled as well. During this difficult time we are heavily relying on our supporters in order to care of over 150 cats staying at our Avon shelter, who requires daily care, food, supplies and medical care.

We will continue to post our animals on our website and social media and hope that interest and support in our Love A Stray Cat Rescue division sustains us. This is extremely difficult for us as it suspends our abilities to continue to help others. These are unprecedented times for both people and for the animals. Thank you for all your support!
